Minor SINGLE A – League Age: 6 & 7

Experience Level:

  • Beginner players with little to no prior baseball experience.

Format:

  • Coach pitch only. This division introduces players to fundamentals in a supportive environment focused on learning, teamwork, and fun.

Focus Areas:

  • Basic skill development (throwing, catching, hitting, running)
  • Introduction to defensive positions
  • Learning teamwork and sportsmanship
  • Building confidence and a love for the game

Team Formation:

  • Teams assembled by Player Agent & League President after upper-division drafts for balanced rosters.

Buddy Requests:

  • One reciprocal buddy request honored when possible (both players must request each other).

Minor Double AA – League Age: 7 & 8

Eligible Players:

  • Primarily for players age 7 & 8
  • League age 9-year-olds not drafted into AAA remain, but are ineligible to pitch
  • Safety is a key factor in keeping 9-year-olds in AA
  • Players moving down from AAA are ineligible to pitch

Format:

  • Kid pitch for the first 3 innings, day 1
  • Remaining innings are coach pitch to support transition and safety

Focus Areas:

  • Continued development of fundamental skills
  • Understanding defensive positions
  • Introduction to consistent defensive plays
  • Preparation for upper divisions

Team Formation:

  • Teams created by Player Agent & League President after upper-division drafts.

Buddy Requests:

  • One reciprocal buddy request will be honored when possible.

AAA – Eligible Players

Eligible Players:

  • Primarily for players age 9 & 10
  • All 10-year-olds drafted into AAA
  • Some 9-year-olds may remain in AA to further develop
  • 11-year-olds not drafted into Majors play AAA
  • 8-year-olds may play up only in rare cases

Format:

  • Kid pitch only, with faster gameplay and fewer restrictions

Focus Areas:

  • Fundamental advancement
  • Game strategies and decision-making
  • Offensive and defensive awareness
  • Preparation for Majors

Team Formation:

  • Teams created through a draft managed by Player Agent.

MAJORS – League Age: 11 & 12

Eligible Players:

  • Primarily for players age 11 & 12
  • All 12-year-olds drafted into Majors
  • 11-year-olds not drafted remain in AAA
  • 10-year-olds may play up only in rare cases

Format:

  • Kid pitch only with higher skill levels and faster pace

Focus Areas:

  • Advancement of skills and fundamentals
  • Consistent pitching and hitting
  • Understanding advanced strategy
  • Preparation for tournaments and post-season

Team Formation:

  • Teams formed through draft managed by Player Agent.

50/70 (INTERMEDIATE) – League Age: 13

Eligible Players:

  • Primarily for players age 13
  • 12-year-olds may play up only in rare cases

Format:

  • Larger fields (50 ft pitching / 70 ft bases)
  • More advanced strategic play

Focus Areas:

  • Transition to larger field
  • Advanced pitching, hitting, and defense
  • Strategy and game awareness
  • Prep for higher divisions

Team Formation:

  • Draft held if two teams are possible
  • Teams capped at 14 players
  • Waitlist may be created if registrations fall in between

JUNIORS – League Age: 14

Eligible Players:

  • Primarily for players age 14
  • 13-year-olds may play up only in rare cases

Format:

  • Full-size fields with high school/pro baseball distances

Focus Areas:

  • Adjustment to regulation field
  • Advancement of pitching, hitting, and defensive skills
  • Mastery of advanced strategy and game awareness
  • Preparation for high school baseball

Team Formation:

  • Draft held if two teams are possible
  • Teams capped at 14 players
  • Waitlist may be created; placement determined by registration date

CHALLENGER – Ages 6–22

  • The Challenger Division provides an adaptive baseball program.
  • Contact the Player Agent for information on participating in Vacaville American Little League’s Challenger program.
