We are running two separate contests:

1) T-Mobile HR Derby. This one is open to players age 9-12 and home runs have to be hit at 170 feet. This is the contest that the nation runs and kids could wind up hitting at the MLB All-Star Game should the winners of our league advance through future contests. Again, this one is strictly for the national contest and the winner will receive a medal and a chance to move on to face other kids from other leagues. We are suggesting players enter this who have a realistic shot at hitting home runs (170ft). This contest will run on C-1 from 5pm until all contestants finish.

2) VALL Fundraiser HR Derby. This contest is open to all players of all ages. Contestants will hit on C-2 and C-3 as a team. Your team will be provided with a time slot to hit off of a tee or coach pitch (players choice). We are not using pitching machines to make it more authentic to how the big leaguers do it. There will be individual prizes for top 3 players in each division and a trophy for the 1st place player. There will also be a team prize for the team who hits the most combined home runs. Fences will be moved according to the age of the division hitting and the cost is $10 per player which gives the player 10 swings. We want team moms and/or coaches to collect their team’s funds and pay for their team’s entry when we get closer to the event. This will help minimize our Treasurer having to trace a $10 payment from every player.

Finally, as in years past we will have a car show and food truck vendors at the event as well and are hoping for a fun night with a lot of participation. That said, since we will have 3 fields hitting dingers, we will need some volunteer help to shag balls (kids usually want to do this), dugout moms and dads to keep the flow of the fields moving. Coaches to pitch to their team (we will have extra coaches to pitch if your team’s coaches aren’t available). Home run spotters and talliers, time keepers, and an MC or two to announce the teams and players. We have many board members already planning to volunteer but any help at the event is greatly appreciated.
